Portland Teen Faces Terrorism and Attempted Murder Charges After School Chemical Incident

A chemical incident within a Portland, Oregon, high school cafeteria, which initially hospitalized a student in critical condition, has now resulted in charges of domestic terrorism and attempted murder against the same teenager who was medically assisted by school personnel.

The 15-year-old student from Benson Polytechnic High School is currently facing a total of 19 criminal charges. Investigators allege he brought various chemicals from his residence, combined them within the Portland school on September 8, and subsequently released hazardous gases that put both students and staff at risk.

Speaking at an October 2 news conference, Multnomah County District Attorney Nathan Vasquez emphasized the critical importance of secure educational environments.
