Lindsay Clancy Holdout Juror Vows to Share Story as Attorney Addresses Public Scrutiny

The single juror who prevented a verdict in the high-profile trial of Lindsay Clancy, accused of the murder of her three children, has indicated he will soon release his own statement. Concurrently, his legal representative has issued a warning about the potential for public criticism to undermine the integrity of jury deliberations.

Attorney Edward Paltzik confirmed that Michael P. Desronvil, whose dissenting vote led to a mistrial, intends to share his perspective “in his own words” in the near future. Paltzik conveyed this information via a social media post.

Paltzik extended gratitude to those who have offered support to Desronvil through various messages, while also acknowledging that some may not agree with the position Desronvil maintained during the jury's deliberations.

The Divisive Case and Mistrial

These developments emerge as the deeply contentious case once again captures national attention. Patrick Clancy, the father of the deceased children and Lindsay Clancy’s former husband, recently gave his first television interview on “60 Minutes.” During the segment, he spoke about his profound grief, shared memories of his children, and addressed unfounded conspiracy theories that have circulated online since the tragic events of January 2023. His current wife, Dr. Rachel Danis, also participated in the interview alongside correspondent Ross Douthat.

Lindsay Clancy, 36, faced three charges of first-degree murder in connection with the deaths of her children: Cora, 5; Dawson, 3; and Callan, 8 months. The children were discovered strangled within the family’s Duxbury, Massachusetts, residence in January 2023.

Clancy admitted to causing the deaths of her children. However, her defense attorneys contended that she should not be held criminally responsible, asserting she was suffering from severe postpartum psychosis at the time. Prosecutors, conversely, argued that Clancy, a former labor and delivery nurse, acted with full understanding and deliberately carried out the killings.

After seven days of deliberations, Judge William Sullivan declared a mistrial on September 4. The jury was deadlocked with a vote of 11-1; the majority of 11 jurors were prepared to find Clancy not criminally responsible, while Desronvil maintained his position for a conviction.

Juror's Stance and Legal Path Forward

Desronvil subsequently indicated his conviction that the prosecution had successfully presented its case. He recounted attempts to introduce alternative theories during the deliberation process, but stated that fellow jurors repeatedly dismissed his inquiries as signs of uncertainty rather than valid points for discussion.

The aftermath of the mistrial quickly extended beyond the courtroom, with Desronvil becoming the subject of considerable public scrutiny due to his steadfast refusal to alter his position.

Prosecutors in Plymouth County have not yet announced whether they intend to pursue a retrial for Clancy. Meanwhile, her defense team has explored the possibility of resolving the case without another trial. They have enlisted veteran Boston attorney Martin Weinberg to pursue a motion aimed at dismissing the charges on grounds of double jeopardy.

Clancy is scheduled to appear again in Plymouth Superior Court for a status hearing on September 29, at which point the future trajectory of the case may become clearer.
