A video featuring an Israeli diplomat's interaction with an Iranian representative at the United Nations, involving a Starlink satellite internet device, has achieved remarkable global reach, with a significant portion of its viewership originating from Iran. The representative confirmed the video's unexpected popularity, particularly its extensive reach within Iran, stating, "We couldn't imagine to be the popular."

The Genesis of the Viral Moment

The encounter captured in the video stemmed from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s address to the U.N. General Assembly. During his speech, Prime Minister Netanyahu publicly displayed a Starlink device, directing a message toward the Iranian populace.

According to a representative for Ambassador Danny Danon, the Starlink device was specifically prepared for Prime Minister Netanyahu's address with the intention of offering it to the Iranian delegation afterward. Following the speech, Ambassador Danon approached an Iranian representative, presenting the device. This interaction was recorded on video.

The Iranian representative ultimately declined to accept the Starlink device.

Ambassador Danon subsequently shared the video of this exchange on various social media platforms, where it quickly gained substantial traction and widespread viewership.

This previous footage shows another Israeli envoy, Gilad Erdan, walking through the General Assembly while holding a photograph of Mahsa Amini during a speech by Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi.

Recent posts recirculating this older video have accumulated hundreds of thousands of views, inaccurately portraying the incident as a current confrontation involving Israel’s U.N. ambassador. Ambassador Danon’s representative characterized this renewed circulation of the old footage as a "disinformation campaign" specifically designed to counteract the attention generated by Ambassador Danon’s Starlink video.
