Authorities reported Tuesday that 17 individuals were rescued from a pontoon boat near Alcatraz Island off the San Francisco coast, following an incident where two people were initially identified as missing.
San Francisco Fire Lt. Mariano Elias provided details on the unfolding situation. He confirmed that one of the 17 rescued individuals was receiving CPR at the scene. Lt. Elias also stated that a single person remained unaccounted for as search efforts continued.
The vessel, described by Elias as a "pontoon pleasure boat," was approximately 600 yards from Alcatraz Island when a fire reportedly broke out onboard.
