Brooks Koepka Labels His PGA Tour Return 'Pretty Pathetic' After Missing FedExCup Playoffs

Brooks Koepka offered a frank self-assessment of his performance following his first full season back on the PGA Tour, which concluded Sunday after his final round at the Wyndham Championship.
After carding a 70, Koepka completed the tournament at 3-under par, resulting in a T67 finish. This placed him 19 strokes behind the winner, Michael Brennan. Consequently, Koepka, who departed from LIV Golf to rejoin the PGA Tour earlier this year, ended the season at 94th in the FedExCup Playoff standings.
Only the top 70 players in the FedExCup Standings advance to the St. Jude Championship in Memphis the following week, which marks the initial event of the three-tournament playoff series.
Koepka's Candid Assessment
Koepka was forthright about his year's showing after wrapping up his final round.
"I think it’s pretty pathetic that I can’t get through," Koepka stated. "[I’ve had] zero top 10s basically in two years. To be in the prime of your career and be as good as I think I am, I think that’s very pathetic, disappointing."
The five-time major tournament winner transitioned from the rival LIV Golf tour at the beginning of the year, a move that came with certain conditions from the PGA Tour upon his return.
Koepka reportedly forfeited an estimated $85 million in potential earnings and faced limitations on the events he could enter. Additionally, he is not eligible for the $100 million FedExCup bonus program for the 2026 season.
A Season of Mixed Results and Personal Satisfaction
Despite Koepka's personal disappointment, the season was not without its positive moments. In his 16 starts, he successfully made 11 cuts, including a T12 finish at The Masters in April. His strongest performance occurred at the Cognizant Classic in March, where he secured a T9 position, leading many to believe a resurgence was underway in his initial year back on Tour.
However, his momentum waned later in the season. Despite his dissatisfaction with his competitive results, Koepka expressed genuine enjoyment about his return to the PGA Tour.
"It’s been great," he commented. "Honestly, I’ve loved it. I feel fantastic. The reception’s been great. Overall, happiness is 10 out of 10 and just excited."
While Koepka plans to continue playing, mentioning participation in DP World Tour events in Europe, he also aims to re-engage with the PGA Tour schedule this fall.
When asked about areas for improvement, his response was direct:
"It’s just all on the greens," he explained. "I don’t know what the deal is. [I’ve] got zero confidence, can’t putt. I don’t know."
